Nut, Self-Locking (2) (Item 144, Appendix G)
WARNING
Wear appropriate eye protection when
working under vehicle due to the
possibility of falling debris. Failure to
comply may result in injury to personnel.
a. Removal.
(1) Remove self-locking nut (1), bolt (2), and washer (3)
from upper bracket (4). Discard self-locking nut.
(2) Remove self-locking nut (5), bolt (6), two washers (7),
and shock absorber (8) from lower bracket (9). Discard
self-locking nut.
b. Installation.
(1) Position shock absorber (8) in upper bracket (4) with
washer (3), bolt (2), and self-locking nut (1).
(2) Extend or compress shock absorber (8) length to align
with holes in lower bracket (9).
(3) Position shock absorber (8) in lower bracket (9) with two
washers (7), bolt (6), and self-locking nut (5).
(4) Tighten self-locking nut (1) to 196-240 lb-ft (265-325
N·m).
(5) Tighten bolt (6) to 373-454 lb-ft (505-615 N·m).
